Wauwatosa, the first suburb west of Milwaukee, is where we live and where our wedding will take place. It is a lovely community known for its 1920s bungalows, tree-lined streets, excellent schools, numerous parks, and quaint downtown Village filled with shops and restaurants. Wauwatosa's neighborhoods still have a somewhat urban feel, with homes in walking distance of local businesses, but with a much lower crime rate than Milwaukee proper.
Fun Fact: "Wauwatosa" is a Potawotami word meaning "firefly" and Firefly is the name of our ceremony and reception venue!
Here is a map of Wauwatosa from 1892, looking east towards Milwaukee and Lake Michigan. Our house was built in 1905 on part of the piece of land represented by the inverted triangle in the lower center foreground of the map, above the word "THE" in the map's title.
